Install Desktop Diary: Download and install the application on your new computer.
Create a User: Open Desktop Diary and create a new user profile (for example, "NewUser").
Close the Application: Completely exit Desktop Diary. Ensure it is closed and not just running in the system tray.
Locate Your Old Data: Connect your old hard drive to the new computer. Navigate to your old Desktop Diary data folder, which is located at:
[Old Drive Letter]:\Users\[Old Username]\AppData\Roaming\VOVSOFT\Desktop Diary\[OldUser]
Copy the Files: Copy all the files inside your old "OldUser" folder.
Paste into the New Directory: Navigate to the matching folder on your new computer:
C:\Users\[New Username]\AppData\Roaming\VOVSOFT\Desktop Diary\NewUser
Relaunch the App: Open Desktop Diary. Your previous entries should now be successfully restored!
💡 Troubleshooting Tip:
The AppData folder is hidden by default in Windows. If you cannot find it, open File Explorer, click on the View tab at the top, and check the box for Hidden items.
Is it possible to install Desktop Diary on two different laptops and migrate the entries from one laptop onto the other laptop periodically without erasing the entries in that laptop? Situation: I would like to use this software to keep my journal. When I am at home, I use my personal computer. When I am traveling for business, I use my work computer. I would like to be able to make journal entries while I am traveling on the work computer and then migrate them into the personal computer when I return from a trip. Can this be done easily? Thank you!
