For my personal use, this is PERFECT. If I need to store highly sensitive information, I’ll rely on tools like KeePassXC or Bitwarden. That said, I do have a few suggestions that would make this software even better:

• Theme Selection Needs Control:
Currently, changing themes feels completely random. Selecting “Change Theme” cycles unpredictably with no clear way to return to a previously used or preferred theme. A simple improvement would be a theme selection list (by name) or a settings window similar to Vov Sticky Notes, allowing users to preview, select, and switch themes intentionally.

•Custom Theme Support:
Even better—provide a settings interface where users can customize appearance (colors, fonts, layout) and save those configurations as reusable themes. That would elevate usability significantly.

•Password Storage (Registry):
Storing the password as plain text in the registry is outdated from a security standpoint. However, for my specific use case, this does not impact functionality.

For what I need—a clean, simple, offline desktop journal to organize notes and documentation—this application is absolutely ideal. It’s fast, lightweight, and does exactly what it’s designed to do without unnecessary complexity.

Huge thank you to Vovsoft for continuing to build straightforward, effective desktop software. In a world full of bloated subscriptions and forced cloud integrations, this is refreshing.

Diary entries are stored as plain unencrypted RTF files in the users Appdata heirachy in a place that is EASY to find and each entry is an individual RTF file with a .DAT file extension that can be renamed to .RTF and opened in ANY RTF editor/viewer so has ZERO functional security, and what's claimed in some places as encrypted backups are just encoded RTF file data NOT encrypted. This should be re-thought out as to what it is really intended to do and diary entries should be encrypted right from the start and even better put in a real encrypted database where the key is derived from the username and password combination maybe an encrypted sqlite3 database and don't rely on obscurity for all your security as that is NO real level of security at all.

Does it collect ALL URLs? tel: ftp: mailto: as well as http: and https: Remember URL stands for Universal Resource Locator not just website http(s) resources. And I've tested it and only http and https resources are returned correctly. It ODDLY returns mailto: as https://webaddress/location/mailto:user@domain hardly a usable mailto: URL! Does it make sense to show the export filtered and filtered URL list tab when no Options are being displayed? Just causes confusion IMHO. Oddly I have found a use for the incorrect display of mailto: URLs it helped me locate faulty mailto: URLs on a website I assist the error fixing with... but I would prefer for a collect URL program to properly collect URL's and not act as s URL locator.

Without encryption the hiding is superficial, once an item is locked a standard windows hidden attributed folder is created on the C: drive "C:\VVSFTFLDRHD" with security through obscurity a file is created for each hidden item N.db where N is a number that appears to increase sequentially. the file is NOT an sqlite database but the original file renamed... If one enables encryption then the *.db files contain the encrypted contents and not the plain text. As I said there is zero plausible deniability, even if stealth mode is enabled which for some reason just hides the GUI from view so you cannot do anything more with the program... not even exit normally... not sure it's purpose as the C:\VVSFTFLDRHD folder with contents still remain and the process hidefiles.exe still shows in task manager details page and would have to be End tasked to return to normality. Ah just read on vovsofts product page CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + Z toggles stealth mode so now it kind of makes sense even if the stealthiness is superficial and proof of the programs activity remain. Oddly there is no portable edition of this even though that would make the most sense that the program not be installed on the host machine but just the obscure data files... renaming the appdata/roaming subfolder to be something more obscure would be advisable too. The use of fixed folder and file naming and installation on the host computer destroy the possible security through obscurity... One suggestion I can make is go a little deeper, most modern drives have multiple partitions to produce the EFI boot environment and that leaves often megabytes sometime hundreds of megabytes of slack space between GPT partitions that are free to hide away data if you compile in your own filesystem driver into your program to have an extended slack space partition table in the slack between the GPT/MBR records and boot sectors and the first partition which is often a megabyte later... to define the slack space partitions to be used for storing a few hundred megabytes of encrypted data in place that will not be touched by windows. I'm also concerned that the chosen password is shared and stored by vovsoft in association with the registered email address to enable the password recovery process to occur which is an unnecessary risk that one should be able to opt out of as vovsoft could get hacked and the password/email database stolen. Do you get a copy of SOS participants passwords even though they cannot use the recovery facility as no end user email is associated with the SOS license? If so that is unfair data exposure for no potential benefits!

Not all devices respond to ICMP PING command on our LANs other UP tests need to be included like connecting to an OPEN TCP or UDP port... or other method... I have one IP that is discovered but always fails PING requests... logically if it's discovered it's there? no?
Why can I not disable logging of each round of pings to a text file without hacking the program?

Under Vista the output is printed on a single loooooooooong line. Under windows 10 each element is followed by a CR/LF so each element of output appears on it's own line. I note that in Win10 with the portable build on a network share mapped drive letter folder that much of the processing time the mouse over cursor includes an animated circle and the GUI is not responding... this might be due to the ongoing project*.db file access being blocking? Selecting database location to memory rather than file removes the not responding title bar message in windows 10 and is much faster... my suggestion is to default to database in memory and have file as the option... or once the analysis is complete save to a .db file if there is any additional utility to having a discrete database file that can be externally interrogated. Oddly when using under win10 over wifi I get many "Loading time is very long (4.1 sec) URL:" But I don't get that under Vista on same site but using a wired connection... could the wi-fi here really be that bad? Or are win10 overheads somehow delaying something? I suppose I could enable wireless on the vista machine and unplug the Ethernet cable and compare again... I will on request but not just for the sake of it as the IP number will change and I'll have to setup a new RDP connection...

Does not support Vista and has a few bugs that have been reported to dev.

nothing has been changed still has 64bit ffmpeg.exe and 32bit main executable so only usable on 64bit systems unless you swap out the ffmpeg.exe for a 32bit edition and same font selection and font/background colours inadequacies.

This version is also Vista 32 or 64 bit compatible, an improvement would be to offer to simply extract the audio stream as is to an audio file .aac .m4a .ac3 .webm .ogg and so on dependant upon the codec used in the video files sound track rather than force re-encoding even to the same lossy format causing further degradation of the audio quality.

The main problem with this is it uses windows Internet Explorer core to preview and print (render) web pages and IE |(all versions) is depreciated and not capable of rendering faithfully most modern websites as it's development was ceased a long time ago and all but the most simplest websites use technologies that we never part of IE browsers vocabulary in both basic HTML language and scripting language. End result is most modern sites simply do not look like the do in normal modern browsers and many are simply broken.
